On 27th April 2011. BCCI appointed Duncan Fletcher as a coach of the Indian cricket team with two year contract.
He is former captain of the Zimbabwe cricket team and coach of the England cricket team. He has never played Test Cricket. Fletcher was first Zimbabwe One day international cricket team captain, under his captancy Zimbabwe won ICC Trophy in 1982 and Zimbabwe defeated Australia in 1983 cricket World Cup and for his performance he won the man of the match award in this match.
He became the first foreigner coach of England cricket team in the year of 1999. under his coaching between 2000 to 2004 England cricket team won famous series away to South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. England won eight consecutive test matches in 2004, 1 match againts South Africa, 3 test matches againts New Zealand and 4 matches againts West Indies. In 2005 England won Ashes series by 2-1 againt Australia, this is famous and bigest achievement for him because he became the first coach of the England team to win Ashes for 18 years.
